Black Bean Burgers

So, my first post of vegan mofo and I'm like, man I'm so busy. So I'm sitting in the living room on Tues and Wessie's like, "Hey can I cook dinner for you tomorrow?"

And I'm like "Heck yeah!"

So we select the Black Bean Burgers from the Candle Cafe cookbook. I get home and something smells *good.*

Wessie went a little hog wild with the Candle book and also made garlic mash, caramelized onions, guacamole, garlic roasted asparagus and a black bean salsa. He plated everything really cute, then I came to flip our burgers.

They were big honkers (he said he thinks he probably should've chopped a little more) but we fried them up and ate them. They had a good flavor, but I think they were a little big for the amount of oil (we used a lot less than reccommended because deep fried burgers are a little much).

Overall, the meal came out good. I told Wessie he's gonna be my special helper for thanksgiving. I'll do the chopping, he can knead the Candle Cafe seitan for 3 hours. =)

Here's some pictures of our very pretty food.

Truth? Black bean burgers are okay, but the seitan recipe in there (with the marinade, but water the soy sauce down a little) is TO DIE FOR. I make it every year and every year it gets eaten up.
